Thus a farmer with a tank out in the middle of an Iowa corn field is likely only to be a risk to his family, not a terrorist target, therefore not a high risk facility. A propane tank in the middle of town may be a terrorist target, thus a high risk facility. The only way that DHS can make the determination is for the Top Screen information to be completed.

The completion of the Top Screen will be a minor administrative burden. It should not be beyond the competency of any one capable of managing a decent sized farm. There is, however, a way to consolidate that administrative burden. The propane supply company could complete the Top Screen for their customers. All that it takes is for the customer to appoint the supplier as the Preparer for CSAT submissions during the registration process, and even that can be done by the supplier, only requiring a signature by the customer.

Things get a little more complicated if DHS determines that the propane tank makes the farmer (or whatever propane customer) a high risk facility, since a Security Vulnerability Assessment and a Site Security Plan will then be required. Even then, the supplier (who has a vested interest in the customer's continued use of propane) can assist with the remainder of the process, most of which will be cookie cutter security in any case.

A tank containing 7,500 pounds of propane is a potential bomb, easily detonated by even a poorly trained terrorist. If that tank is in a high-profile location, it would certainly be a good terrorist target. A sacred and important ceremony in the life of any Christian, baptism has taken on a meaning of its own in the English language. The original word, from its Greek root, meant washing or cleansing or even possible submersion into water. The rite in Christianity now implies becoming a full Christian. Usually, young babies are baptized quite early in life in order to complete their membership of the Christian faith.

A beautiful white robe looks lovely and pure on any little baby, girl or boy; he or she will look like a little angel. You may even have a baptism party with a twist – ask your younger guests to dress like angels or shepherds. They are sure to enjoy it, as are their parents. Decorate your home with candles and white flowers, to give it a clean and celestial ambience.

Make sure you and your family are dressed in their best clothes, as this will no doubt be a day when lots of pictures will be taken. An idea might be to try and take pictures earlier in the day rather than later, as it's great to see happy and smiling faces rather than grizzly children who haven't had their nap yet!

Sharing a meal afterwards with your family and friends is a great way to round off the occasion. One option is to have a 'pot luck' dinner, with each family bringing a dish to share. If you opt to do this, it might be an idea to ask half the families to bring savoury food and the other half to bring dessert. Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

God's covenant is an unbreakable covenant that was established so that His creation could once again have life and peace.

When Adam fell and became separated from God, he lost both God's life and His peace.

Genesis 3:3 "but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, `You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.' ''

Spiritual death is not a cessation of being, but separation from the life of God. Adam and Eve continued to exist, they did not physically die that day. Death was working in them, and it took nearly 1000 years for it to kill them. You either have the life of God or you don't, there is no middle ground in this.

Romans 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.

To say death reigned simply means death dominated man. He could not escape it.
God wants His creation to have His life. He went to great lengths to establish a covenant that could bring man back to the place where he could again have His life. This means that man would once again have God's life, and because he had God's life he would have the authority to walk in it in such a way as death could no longer have dominion over him.
In other words, he not only had God's life infused into his very being, but he could walk in total victory over the very thing that had the power to destroy him. Death no longer dominates or has power over us.

Life and peace work together in order bring about God's desired result. That result is for us to walk in dominion over the things that once dominated us. If you don't have His life you can not have his peace. The fear of death will dominate you. You can not have the peace of God until you partake of the free gift of life which comes by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 2:14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
15. and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

The power of death has been destroyed. We have been granted this life, and released from the dominion of sin, and the end result of that sin, being spiritual death.

My question is, are we as God's children enjoying the life God has given to us.
I have come to believe that in order for us to walk in the benefits of God's great redemption, we have to also walk in peace. They go together. If we are not walking in peace, we truly are not partakers of the benefits of the life God has given to us. What good is this great redemption and the wonderful benefits that come with it, if we are not partakers of it? God went to great lengths to reunite us. He wants us to partake of His free gift, and enjoy the benefits of being His children.

This would come as a shock to many Christians, but God wants us to enjoy His blessings.
Many Christians have the mindset that we are supposed to go through life torn and tattered, barely getting along. This does not sound like being richly blessed and enjoying life to me. Jesus said…

John 10:10 "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

The word abundant means - (in the sense of beyond); superabundant (in quantity) or superior (in quality); by implication, excessive; preeminence:

The Amplified says it like this… 10. The thief comes only to in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

Jesus Himself said this. I trust Him to mean what He says, don't you?

Abundance is to have everything you need and then some. More abundant is more than that. That's hard to comprehend, but as the Amplified translation says; till it overflows. That's the kind of life God wants us to have. He wants His life to fill us up so completely and totally that it just overflows from us and blesses everyone else around us. Glory.
What an awesome God. As I so often say, we have a part to play in this.
Let's reread one of our opening Scriptures…

Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Carnal means natural. Natural doesn't sound bad, but natural or carnal is earthly where spiritual mindedness is to think on the things of God. We are being told to do this. This is not something God can do for us. We have to make the choice to think Godly thoughts or Earthly thoughts. When the natural contradicts the things of God, we have to make a choice. Peace can only come when we make the correct choice. When we are in turmoil, we can not partake of the life of God. Peace and fear just do not coexist. We are told how to deal with this situation.

I have seen this over and over. It is a lesson I had to learn and I endeavor to teach others. God's Word says to cast your care upon Him because He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

A simple adjustment can put you on the road to victory. I didn't say it would always be easy, especially if you have a habit of thinking negatively. Habits have to be changed.

When we are full of anxiety and care, we are not walking in faith and trusting God. This is one of the biggest indicators. It's sort of like the canary in the mine shaft. If we have no peace, it is an indicator that we are not walking in faith. When you truly trust God, you are not going to be worried and full of fear.

There is good news, this is a condition that can be changed. Do as the Word of God says and become spiritually minded. The spiritually minded Christian is not going to be full of fear and anxiety because he or she is not thinking on those things that allow fear and anxiety grow and be present. We know this because spiritually minded Christians have life and peace. If not, you are not spiritually minded. This may sound hard, and it is not meant to condemn, but to correct. We all have to make the necessary adjustments and do as the Word of God says, or we will continue to do the same things, and have the same results. The results can be changed. Some have a hard time believing this can actually happen. They have been living this way so long that they don't think anything about it, it seems like the normal way to be. God wants us to have a way of life and peace.

We need to continually monitor or judge ourselves and check up on ourselves. We have to ask ourselves this question, do I have peace? If the answer is no, then check on up on your thoughts. If your thoughts are constantly on the problem, then you have created a breading ground for fear and anxiety, and a place where depression can set up a stronghold. Begin the process of renewing your mind with the Word of God. We can replace our negative thoughts with thoughts that will be breading grounds for God's life to work in us. You will gain more and more confidence as you begin to put these principles into practice. We have everything to gain and absolutely nothing to loose. I really like what the Apostle Paul said to the Philippian church at by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit…

Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7. and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy meditate on these things.

God wants us to succeed, and has given us the instructions on how to do it. Let's take His instructions to heart and begin to allow God's peace to keep us, and the end result will be life.

President Jimmy Carter Has Lost All Sense Of Propriety

I did not vote for President Carter. I also did not vote for President Ford. To the best of my recollection this was the only Presidential election I did not vote in since I became old enough to vote.

I liked Carter but felt that he was too trusting and naive to be our President. While he turned out to be one of the worst presidents of the 20th century, I still liked and respected him. That is untill the last several years. Each year my respect for him has diminished. Now I just think of him as a big mouthed publicity hound.

What Does a Shaman Do?

Shamanic Ceremonies In the shamanic world, ceremonies are powerful magical events held for specific purposes. Ceremonies are done to change the energy of the past, present or future, or to cause things to happen in the spirit world and in this world.

Shamanic ceremonies generally include some ritual elements, such as cleansing, prayer, and protection. The ceremonies themselves, and even the ritual elements, depend on interaction with the spirits and energy.

Impeachment For The Hell Of It

The pages of history are full of events where the little guy without a chance of victory destroyed the stronger opponent through shear obstinatnance. During the battle of the Coral Sea the Japanese plans were destroyed when a US naval forces consisting of a couple of cruisers and half a dozen destroyers encountered the main Japanese naval task force. Common sense would have dictated the US forces run for it, out numbered and out gunned the cruisers and destroyers instead steamed directly for the Japanese fleet.

The Japanese commander was astonished to see this weaker force begin to attack knowing the Americans weren't suicidal and not in a position where they could afford to lose warships. He feared he was being lured into a trap the Americans were trying to hold him there until reinforcements arrived. The American commander felt he had no other option if they ran the Japanese could destroy them but if they fought it out they at least had a chance. The Japanese fleet turned and fled to the astonishment of the American commanders.

A lesson lost on this Congress, cowed and totally lacking testicles they bend and shuffle while mumbling, "Yes sir." Apparently there is not a chess player in the bunch someone who knows the value of "check."
Congress is made up of pool players aiming for angles not wanting to disrupt the shape on the table. Sheep who dream at night about becoming ninja warriors by just following along quietly and not making waves.

Legendary football coach Bear Bryant sent his team into a national championship game with this speech, "Go out there and make something happen," The message was clear the time for talk was over. Whether his team was the favorite or the underdog was irrelevant it was what the team did on the field right now to make things happen that mattered.

The case for impeachment is clear and incontrovertible the only questions left are whether to list the crimes in alphabetical order or in order of heinousness. Dennis Kucinich is on the right tact by impeaching Cheney first a proverbial shot across the bow. But the sheep lift their heads and mumble, "shhh, don't make them mad we don't have the votes." Even Al Gore who I consider a damn fine fellow is against impeachment but his argument that we don't have time and that it would be counterproductive doesn't hold water either.

The Democratic leadership by announcing their plans complete with a timetable handed their nut sack to the Republicans. All the Republicans need do is stall and the Democrats will appear impotent and so far the Democrats ability to horse trade rivals Jack with the family cow. There comes a time when temerity is not a virtue and politeness is but a shield for cowardness. Excuses such as not enough time or it would be counterproductive or we have to work with them on other issues so we mustn't upset them is merely prolonged capitulation. Sun Tzu the military genius of the Art of War advises, "If your opponent is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant." The Democrats have mastered the pretend to be weak strategy and Bush has achieved a famous level of arrogance, now is the time to irritate him.

Upwards of 80% of the American population has turned against the war make the Republicans explain to America why they support the continued illegal carnage. A solid majority believes the President lied to lead us into this war what possible advantage is there in giving the Republicans a free ride. Make the Republican candidates explain how they supported Bush and should be elected over those who didn't!

1. But we don't have the votes!

Putting the issue on the front burner generates heat, a heat that cannot be tolerated by the Republicans it refocuses the issue from flag waving and posturing to was this legal? Or was this a sham? Want to be a patriot and wave the flag? Fine, now defend a sham, an illegal humbug a fraud perpetrated on the American people. Wave your flag and defend your Presidents illegal sham as the bodies pile up in your district. It's damn difficult to lose an argument when you hold the moral high ground the logical high ground and 80% of American public opinion.

Even Custer wouldn't charge blindly into that fight the Republicans will run from Bush faster than the rivers run in spring! John McCain has tied himself to the President's positions and see how's that working out for him among Republican voters?

2. We don't have the time!

That's easy enough to say sitting in your cozy Washington flat, however if you were in your trailer outside Baghdad ducking mortar rounds every night you might judge time a little more liberally. Or if you're a mother in Omaha or Galesburg counting the days waiting on your son or daughter one day is sufficient enough for a lifetime.

3. We must work with the Republicans on other issues!

No, no you don't they have to work with you! You are in the majority now. And besides if you back them into the corner defending Bush and Cheney with all the scandals and illegal war they won't be around there much longer and you can work with the new guys. The Republican's are in a quandary, contributions are falling, their base splintering, and their ideological philosophy totally debased. Bush hasn't just broken the treasury or the military he's broken the Republican franchise to smithereens.

4. It would be counter productive and we have so much work to do!

Point blank! Like what! What's more important than American boys fighting and dying half way around the world more in service to multi national oil companies than to the American flag. They're fighting and dying to defend their buddies not America, Tell me, what's more important than that!

The reasons for impeachment are clear and justified; we are not talking blowjobs or indiscretions here.
We are talking about war crimes and if this President is not to be impeached none ever will be again and we lose the ultimate safety valve on our government. For any future President can call on history for his or her defense, by simply saying they didn't impeach W so the charges against me must be frivolous or pure politics' and he or she will be right. Maybe the current flock of sheep grazing on congressional paychecks are too afraid to upset the status quo.

I'm sure they have a lot of friends among the Republican's and don't want to herd them towards the cliff or force them into the butcher's wagon. But we are past comfort zones here! There is a mad man at the helm who makes Richard Nixon look like a boy scout, was Nixon impeached for a blowjob or with good reason? But I will give them no respite they have no choice here in this, this isn't about pandering or politics' this is about procedure and justice for the American people. For the men who have died needlessly and those who will spend the rest of their days living with that truth and for all of us who must pay the bills yet to come due.

Just like the US navy in the Coral Sea the battle is forced upon you, if you run you will be defeated. You must move forward with the attack not just because it's your best chance of victory but also because it's your duty and it's the right thing to do! So don't you dare wrap yourself in the American flag and talk about our brave troops! They're doing their duty while you mumble your weak excuses, excuses that make you an accomplice by refusing to act! To paraphrase our clueless leader, "Your either with us or against us"

A Religion In Need Of Redemption

Generally, religion figures human beings need redemption. Now, we note, at least one religion is in dire need of redemption: Islam.

The explosive evidence speaks for itself – unfortunately, louder than any other voice in Islam.

But can enough Muslims be convinced that their religion needs salvation?

If a humor magazine can't do it, who can? Here's a short course, called Good Religion 101.

Is a religion supposed to be an enhancement of life or a liability against it? What is its merit to the living when it becomes a liability against life? For that matter, what is its merit to the ultimate source of life – in this context, taken to be Allah, the one true pal of us all?

To be meritorious, a religion must be primarily about the sanctity of life, not the sanctity of death. The more it subordinates life, which is what we have in our care, the more it has gone wrong.

To be fair, we do hear or read an occasional Islamic voice that has not lost sight of what a meritorious religion must be, but where are the voices of Islam's millions, most notably its multitude of mullahs?

To the extent that Islam's we-know-better members do not raise their voices against their religion gone wrong, they permit it to be denigrated in the service of death.

The question is, can it be put pervasively in the service of life? Can it be made exemplary for the lives of Muslims themselves – men, women, adults, and children – as well as good for all the infidels who just wish it would go away?

If it is to be transformed into a religion that doesn't need to be saved, it must become one that is good for all the living. After all, only behavior that is good for everyone can be held up as a standard for everyone or as proper reverence to the ultimate source of us all.

We leave right-minded Muslims with the question wrong-minded Muslims have forced into the foreground. Can Islam be redeemed?

A lot of good people don't think so. They think the religion is a hopeless case. Since their opinion could only arise from ample cause, it's all the more urgent for right-minded Muslims to bestir themselves on behalf of their religion gone wrong.

Instead, they will agree with those who will take away liberty from the earth and persecute those who will stand for God and his truth. What are your thoughts now, Mary? Returns as a Thief in the Night

Mary, you need to understand that those who reject God and his word will feel that they are doing God service by trying to eliminate all those who do not agree with their wrong doing. Come on, Paul, you are living in a world of fantasy; no, Mary, I'm not living in a fantasy world because what I have discussed with you may seem to be fiction but believe me it is reality and all based on the word of God. Jesus will come as a thief in the night to all those who have rejected God and his word. But to those who believe and do his will, Jesus' second coming will not be a surprise but a joy to his people because they had been expecting him.

It is Done

One day Mary, you will want to listen but it may be too late because once the mark is set on each person it cannot be reversed. So today and not tomorrow you need to give your heart to Jesus because tomorrow may be too late. You sure make things sound scary, Paul, no, not I, Mary, but the word of God tell us that sin and evil will be destroyed some day; and according to Bible Prophecy (seen in the world events) this time is near. It may be that we are the last generation who will see freedom taken away from the earth, see the mark of the beast placed on the unbeliever, and the mark of God on the saints. You see, Mary, God has given all a choice; either receive his mark or the mark of the beast. Will you choose for him today, Mary?

However, soon after the marking takes place, the trumpets will sound, the graves of those who died in the Lord will be opened and will rise to meet the Lord in the air. Also, the living saints who are alive will meet the Lord in the air (they are those who never tasting death or went to their graves). Nevertheless, the unbelieving who died without the hope of the resurrection (first resurrection at the second coming of Christ) shall remain in their graves, waiting the second resurrection which will take place after the saints reign with Christ for one thousand years in heaven. Those who were alive (those who rejected God and his word) when Jesus returned and was slain by the brightness of his coming will also be waiting to awake from their graves at the second resurrection (after one thousand years). Mary, you need to understand that Jesus will shine brighter than the sun when he returns the second time, hence, the reason the saints will have a new body, a body that will be able to withstand the mighty power and glory of God. Unfortunately, those who rejected God will not have a new body and will not be able to stand before his presence and live.

Whom Will You Choose?

Well, Peter, I would like to know more about giving my heart to Jesus. Will you tell me more about him? Sure, Mary, but right now I have to go but one more thing, you need to remember that God loves us so much that he gave his only son (Jesus) that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but rather have eternal life. Jesus loved us so much that he was willing to give up his life and so he did. His death was awful because before his crucifixion soldiers spat in his face, pulled out his beard and was beaten so badly by them that with every lash given came out blood and muscle (flesh). The belt or rod used on Jesus included spikes, spikes which tore his flesh apart. His suffering was so intense that no tongue, language, actor or actress could ever portray his intense agony and torture. He suffered and endured such cruelty so that we could have hope of living with him forever. Living, with our Lord and Creator means living free from: pain, diseases, distress, disappointments, loneliness, rejection, hunger, cruelty, wickedness, evil, and death. Reincarnation - Is It Credible?

To start with, let us assume that reincarnation indeed takes place. What do the Vedic literatures tell us as to why it does take place? Two reasons have been given: Firstly, we're being given a chance to live out our desires. Secondly: We're being given repeated opportunities to attain spiritual realization, break free from material entanglement, and resume our eternal nature in the spiritual world. The Vedic writings are meant to guide us in achieving this goal.

However, if we do not accept that reincarnation indeed takes place, then we have to delve a little further and ascertain whether it makes sense for it not to take place. The concept of reincarnation will fall apart if one denies the existence of God. The goal of this article is not to answer the atheists. The objective is to explain reincarnation to the theists. I will admit that the concept of reincarnation cannot be substantiated if God was to not exist. So, for basic question here is: Given God exists does reincarnation take place?

Let us then come to the point of 'Eternal fire and/or Eternal hell'. There are two major issues with these phenomena: (i) It implies that God who is not only all-powerful, but also all merciful God, is cruel -he does not give us a second chance, (ii) It also implies that God is extremely unfair-he favors some souls compared to others. This is basically a flawed evangelical Christian concept. For instance, one born to good Christian parents naturally gets opportunities to hear about Jesus Christ, and, according to Christian teachings, is saved. But if one is born in an atheistic family -well, go to hell. Obviously, the all-powerful, all merciful God cannot let this happen.

Why is one person rich, another poor, one healthy, another diseased? If we live only once, then the best explanation is: "It's just chance" - which is no explanation at all. The Vedic- Krishna Conscious answer to all these confusions is that at the end of one lifetime we embark upon another. The Bhagavad-gita says, "As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones."

To an inquisitive and intelligent theist, this is the only explanation that can make sense. We cannot look through 'the window' of present life and be bewildered as to why there are differences when God is the supreme father to all. If we take that window as a sliding one passing through many lives, it will make more sense. At this point it is natural and easy to understand reincarnation as a natural cause and effect reaction to our karma. Also, it will only make sense to realize that karma is carried over from one life to another. Having understood this point, one is not bewildered by any of the seemingly anomalies one encounters due to presupposition of one life concept. Reincarnation therefore, is a critical part of theism. Without this, the very notion of the personal loving God who is also all-powerful falls apart. Reincarnation is therefore, the most credible aspect to the intelligent theist.

Hip Hop Culture Imitates Don Imus

Cloaked in 5 college degrees an associates, a bachelors, 2 masters and a doctorate degree, I told my predominately white students that I would never give any one such as Don Imus permission to affect, taint or offend my self concept or self-worth as a human being. I told my students that if a person does not play a significant role in my life that includes loving me or paying my bills; their opinion does not matter to me. A white male student said, I respect you Dr. Sturges, but I disagree with you. He went on to explain that prior to the Jewish Holocaust the media desensitized the public's perception of Jewish people by publishing derogatory cartoons and commentaries in their mainstream media. The media laid the psychological foundation that opened the channels to physical abuse. Once the public no longer saw the Jewish people as human beings worthy of equal respect; this made it easy and justified Germany's position to kill, abuse, and destroy the lives of millions of Jewish people.

I am so angry with my student for telling me this. I am so angry with him for taking off my academic cloaks and exposing that little black girl who always hated herself. I thought my degrees could insulate me from being black in America and especially quiet the little black girl who asked her daddy to paint her white when she was five years old. This request brought my father to tears. My daddy asked me, "Why don't you want to look like the people in this world who love you the most?" I told my daddy that nobody like black people.

I am so devastated that my student's comment unveiled, the shame that I had tucked away while being the only black student in an anthropology class watching a documentary about an African tribe while the white male students made fun of the appearance of the breasts of the women in the tribe, stating how disgusting and unattractive they were. Their breasts looked like mine. I put my head down between my folded arms on my desk and sobbed. I will never forget this day.

The dominant Hip Hop culture did not lay the foundation for Don Imus' statement of "nappy headed hos"; the dominant Hip Hop culture is the physical manifestation of self-hatred among black people that stems from post traumatic slave syndrome. What was unique about African American slavery is not the physical abuse of the enslaved people; but the psychological destruction of their native language, cultural beliefs, traditions and heritage. It is through language that we define ourselves. Africans were forced to use a language that denigrated them and declared them to be property and partially human. Even the "N" word that many rappers use originated from slavery. Don Imus is not imitating the dominant collective consciousness of Hip Hop Culture; Hip Hop culture is imitating the collective consciousness of the white oppressor that is symbolic in Don Imus.

The word nappy is a very loaded word. Prior to being shipped to America during slavery blacks did not view their own hair texture as nappy in its natural state. The term nappy implies that the "normal" or correct texture of hair is straight or curly. Moreover, this term was used to compare the hair texture of bi-racial children of the slave master to those of African descent. The slave masters children were given preferential treatment and told that they were more intelligent and attractive because of their genetic connections with the dominant European white ethnicity.

I would like for everyone to imagine that they are white. Now I want you to imagine that all of your world leaders are black. Imagine that superman and all of your super heroes are black. I want you to imagine that the very first time that you learn about European culture outside of your immediate family and community you are on a slave ship. I want you to imagine that the only time that you discuss European history is once a month out of the year. Do you think that you would be who you are today?

I think that what is most dangerous about Don Imus's comment about the Rutger's Women Basketball team is not whether or not they heard it, but the long term ripple effect on the hearts and souls of the other people who are listening and how this shapes their perceptions and expectations of black women in general. As for the dominant Hip Hop culture, my question to society is—Do you think that Hip Hop culture is reflective of a psychologically healthy group of people who respect, love and honor themselves or is Hip Hop reflective of a people who are hurting with self-hatred?

Money is Power and You Need to Get Some

With gas prices in Sacramento, California almost reaching $3.50 per gallon and the average price for a single family home over $300,000, few people can take a vow of poverty and survive.

The good new is that you need to be rich and being rich is not a bad thing. After reading The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles, I am happy to announce to the world and also to my southern Baptist brothers and sisters that being rich is noble. Being poor is not noble.

Can you imagine my sheer joy at finding the answer to my most pressing questions in a manuscript written in 1910 by a really funny looking guy? The practical applications that are outlined in "The Science of Getting Rich" are taken directly from the pages of the Bible.

The problem has been that these practical applications for getting rich were never explained to me in terms that I understood. I always thought that money was the root of all evil.

The reverse is true because poverty causes more evil than riches ever could.

This is quite a revelation for a girl from the south who attended Sunday school, BTU (Baptist Training Union) and night services for her whole life, reading this manuscript literally turned my life upside down.

When I talk about being rich, I envision corporate jets and mansions located in several strategic locations around the world. I see people who tend to my vast acreage of land. I have dreams and ambitions that when I voiced them, my mother would just shake her head.

I am so profoundly grateful that I now have a voice and a purpose for wanting, desiring, even demanding those things that are mine from the universe. The Science of Getting Rich gives me justification for everything that I ever want in my life. For "in order to know more, do more and be more, we must have more. This knowledge frees the spirit and your soul.

I don't have to compete to be rich. I don't have to drive hard bargains or take advantage of others. I can create my entire rich abundance just by knowing that the universe intends that I become all that I can.

"The desire for riches, writes Mr. Wattles, is simply the capacity for larger life seeking fulfillment. Ever desire is the effort of an unexpressed possibility to come into action"

As to the practical realities of getting rich, I found it necessary because of my character to explore business models that would bring the riches that I desire. When Wallace D. Wattles explains the analogy about the sewing machine, he tells us that if you want a sewing machine you must hold the mental image of it with positive certainty that it is being made and is on its way to you.

I took this same analogy with a business model and I contend that the Google Adsense program is my vehicle for riches. I can create this thought in my mind, create Adsense websites and see people happily clicking on my website providing a quick and easy way to riches.

Some Thoughts on $400.00 Haircuts by Politicians

Why do politicians spend $400.00 on their haircuts? One Democrat Politician recently spent four-hundred dollars on his haircut and then bought a $1.00 bumper sticker for his $250,000 car? The other day I got an excellent hair cut for $20.00 with shampoo and all. The most I have ever spent on a haircut has been $40.00 and only due to the very high-rent district I was in.

How can any politician claim to be one with the people they are to serve if they spend $400.00 on a Haircut? I mean even the famous pop-stars barely spend that much. In fact, I just read in one very reliable news journal, perhaps you have heard about it; "National Inquirer" that even Paris Hilton only spends $300 or so dollars on her hair and she even gets paid $100,000 just to show up at parties.

It is a slap in the face to the working men and women of this nation for our politicians to go and blow $400 on a haircut and then tell us they are "one of us" and that we must vote for them? No Way! Someone needs to go and mess up their hair and teach them a lesson. I mean this is utterly ridiculous - what a sham and what a disgraceful message they are sending to our younger generation.

Are you going to vote for some politician who spends $400 on a haircut just so they can look good giving a speech or so they can look their finest on their next radio talk show interview? Not me. You decide if you want to be taken for a ride.

Jimmy Carter Didn't Lie

Jimmy Carter didn't lie when he called President George Bush, "The worst president EVER, in the history of this country." He lied when he said his words were misinterpreted and taken out of context. Mr. Carter, having given his assessment a second thought, called his words "reckless," when in fact they were a accurate assessment of Mr. Bush's presidency. No president has done more to circumvent the Constitution upon which this nation was founded, than George Dubya Bush. He has single-handedly lowered the high esteem and stature in which the United States was once held. He squandered the considerable residue of international good will we enjoyed shortly after Nine-Eleven. His shoot from the hip foreign policy initiatives has been disastrous. The so-called war on terror is a farce. As he well knows, you can't seriously wage a war against a tactic. Iraq had nothing to do with Nine-Eleven or al-Qaeda and wasn't a threat. They were contained before Mr. Bush decided a pre-emptive strike was in order. In so doing we lost the moral high ground and became the terrorists we were supposed to be against. We tend to forget the huge toll the war and subsequent occupation has had on innocent Iraqi civilians. Iraq has become unhinged and we are in the middle of their civil war.

Mr. Bush's operating tactics are straight out of the Nazi handbook. He has literally gotten away with murder, by convincing us that the Boogie Man exists and is intent on doing us harm. Al-Qaeda is the Boogie Man of choice. Nine-Eleven has become his mantra. To keep the fear factor going, Mr. Bush recently released declassified document that suggest Bush family friend Osama bin Lardin wants to cause us further harm. That should have been obvious, but there's no need for us to retreat to the bomb shelter. Bush has positioned himself as the great defender, in a world that is hell-bent on our destruction.

The truth of the matter is he has weakened us by creating existing and future terrorists, because of his repressive policies. Other countries have experienced greater levels of terrorism, with more frequency than us, but none of them reacted the way we did by attacking an uninvolved sovereign land. Bush's domestic policies have resulted in the loss of so-called inalienable rights. American citizens are now subject to have their phones tapped, e-mails and letters arbitrarily read and could be spirited away in the middle of the night without legal recourse. Under the Bush Reich we can be taken to a foreign country and tortured, with the stroke of his pen. This president has ignored the Constitution upon which this nation was founded and reinstituted the monarchy. King George has ruled by fear. So afraid are we of being harmed or being called coward that we have allowed him to rule unfettered. Unfortunately, like his political party of choice, the Democratic Party, Jimmy Carter lacks the courage of his convictions. The Democratic Congress came in with a mandate to end the war, instead they have thus far capitulated to the worst president EVER!

Terrorism is Unfortunate Indeed

As the virus of Islam grows with hate,

The innocent victims and lovers of freedom relate.

We are joined together in a cause of just,

Our steadfast resolve cannot rust.

The Middle Eastern media and propaganda has convinced themselves,

That we will lose and put our weapons back on the shelves.

As Al Jezzera incites gang attire and color,

They create more hateful youth to die as fodder.

Preaching violence and hate against the Jews,

Only causes them a further fall as they lose.

For in war there are no winners,

Indeed, in the end all men are sinners.

The pathogen of evil must be quelled,

The purveyors of hate must be repelled.

Islam must stand up against this humanitarian crime,

Then we shall have the peace we search for in our time.

Those who turn their heads and refuse to see truth,

Will only lose another generation of youth.

It is time for Islam to cure their ill,

Stand up and allow cooler heads to chill.

Where is the real problem in the World not the West,

For one to purport this can only does so in jest.

Its all just desert sand furious sound,

Islam has been a war with its self as long as it has been around.

No one can deny the historical past,

Why won't Islam give peace a chance.

Say what you will or say what you might,

This does not make international terrorism alright.

For those who wish to change the world to hate,

I am sorry to alert you that it is a little too late.

Peace always comes at a price,

Why won't the international terrorists just be nice.

If we cannot convince them to render their best behavior,

It shall be our honor to eliminate them forever.

What About the War in Iraq, Mr Brown?

The news in the UK today has been all about Gordon Brown and his candidacy to become the next leader of the New Labour Party and with that the next British Prime Minister. He will move next door, so to speak. What has been a little surprising is that he seems to be taking on the leadership of New Labour without the murmur of opposition. In response to this Brown is doing the 'I am so humble act'.

During the day the radio news has been providing snippets of Brown's "I am so humble' speech. He says his prime focus is education, pronounced in capital letters, then he also has to fix the NHS, restore trust in government and worry about housing, environment issues and building fabulous communities. All of these sound so wonderfully soothing.

So far I have not heard one word about what he intends doing about the war in Iraq. Possibly Mr Blair, who is having tea parties with Bush at the moment, thinks he can sort this disaster out while he is still at the helm, thus leaving Brown with a rosy future. After all it is Blair's stubbornness that got the UK into the war in the first instance. There were a fair number of Brits against it at the time, in fact it was one of the bigger popular protests seen in the UK for a while. However, to no avail as Blair decided he needed to play on the world stage and attach himself to Bush.

Of course Bush and Blair are adamant that they are winning the war in Iraq. Today the BBC reported on a particular damming report which has been published by the UK foreign policy think thank the Royal Institute for International Affairs, also known as Chatham House. It states that Iraq is facing collapse and maintains that the Iraqi government is practically powerless and irrelevant in many parts of the country.

Not only does the report say that there are several civil wars in Iraq, with strong leanings of support towards al-Qaeda in many areas. But it also points out that Iraqi's neighbours are fueling the unrest as they have more to gain from an Iraq in turmoil and fragmented. Neighbouring states are Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey and each has its own reasons for seeing continued instability in Iraq. The efforts of the US and allies are purely moving the unrest around into different areas rather than overcoming it.

While politicians, political analysts and academics ponder the success or not of a war, the ordinary people of Iraq are suffering hardships which we in our protected little cocoons can't even imagine. Talking about that, we see so little of the horrific effects of this war on the people in Iraq. Is there a media gag out there?

Mother's Day - How An Abolitionist Liberal Wrote A Proclamation For Peace And An End To War in 1872

Did you know that Mother's Day has a controversial and political meaning, going back to 1872? That is when a woman named Julia Ward Howe wrote the Mother's Day Proclamation. Howe was opposed to war and tried to get mothers throughout the United States to join together against war anywhere in the world.

Julia Howe had written the words to The Battle Hymn of the Republic earlier, in 1861, after being devastated by the Civil War. She wanted women to unite and help to bring an end to fighting and war of any kind. She believed that if mothers stood up against war then the men in government would listen and wars would become a thing of the past.

But it was not to be. Howe was a vocal abolitionist and had come into disfavor with those who wanted slavery to continue well after the end of the Civil War. These people made it difficult for Howe to get her message out. Her Proclamation became an underground message for women's rights. Women's liberation was not a popular movement at this time in our country's history so Mother's Day for Peace was celebrated quietly by few women for the next 30 years.

It is interesting that Mother's Day would have its roots in a peace loving, abolitionist, women's rights system of beliefs. Howe wanted women to be able to vote, but that desire probably kept the women of her time from having any more rights and privileges than they already enjoyed. If women had been given the vote back in the 1870's the future of the United States may have gone differently. Instead, women were forced to wait until 1920 to vote.

Susan B. Anthony had cast an illegal vote in the same year,1872, and was fined $100 for doing so. More than likely she cast her vote for Horace Greeley and not for Ulysses S. Grant. Greeley, who died a few weeks after the election, was considered to be the more liberal candidate and also had spoken in favor of women's rights in general.

So in the same year that Susan B. Anthony was voting illegally and Horace Greeley was running for President as a liberal candidate, Julia Ward Howe wrote her Mother's Day Proclamation and started Mother's Day for Peace.

It wasn't until many years later that Anna Jarvis, the daughter of a woman who helped care for soldiers during the Civil War, was able to start a national day of recognition for all mothers in the United States.

Here we are 135 years later and although women now have the vote and many other privileges once only granted to men, not much has changed on the war front. Happy Mother's Day to all women readers. Think about what we can all do today that was only allowed to be done by men in the past. Maybe we can change some more things for women of the future.
